MY CURLY HAIR ROUTINE (NO HEAT)
Having curly hair can be a pain in the you know what sometimes. For years my straightener has been my best friend, but we’ve grown apart. I’ve finally embraced my curly hair. Here’s what my curly hair routine’s like..
I’ve got quite long hair; it comes just above my bra’s strap (when curly). Some days it’s very voluminous and Carrie Bradshaw-like. Today it’s looking a bit more flat because I got rained that in the morning *sad face*
You don’t even want to know how much money I’ve wasted on getting all sorts of horrible products, thinking they would change everything. Just ask me, I’ve tried them all.. I’ve come to realize; less is more. I wash my hair 2/3 times a week, depending on how many times I go to the gym. I use the Dove Color Care Shampoo and the Dove Daily Intensive Conditioner. Curly hair can get really tangly that’s why I brush my hair with the Tangle Teezer Aqua Splash underneath the shower. Excuse the hairs, I’m only human..
After I get out of the shower I flip my head over and try to get any tangles out with my fingers. My hair is VERY thin so I’m not brushing it again; it’ll go extremely frizzy that way. I put 2 pumps of the John Frieda Frizz Ease Original serum in the ends. Then quite a bit of Syoss Max Hold Styling Mousse. Lastly, two pumps of the Schwarzkopf got2b anti-frizz lotion. Remember; scrunch the product in your hair. Scrunching is key. When I go out partying I use the Lee Strafford Sea Salt Spray to give it a bit more texture, however I wouldn’t recommend using this on a daily basis, it makes your hair feel gross.
I will then put on my Turbie Towel and walk around looking like a weirdo for the rest of the evening. You just got to surround yourself with people who don’t mind;) I take it off when I go to sleep, it’ll still be a bit damp but that doesn’t matter. I find that it gets much frizzier if I let it air dry.
The next morning you’ll wake up with a head full of curls. Put a bit more mousse/lotion in it and you’re good to go. I can imagine it sounds a bit stupid and way too time consuming but if you have straight hair, you’re not allowed to judge. Some friend of mine only use shampoo and conditioner, no styling products at all. I envy them at times, but to be perfectly honest.. I think my hair’s quite beautiful.
I hope I have given you some tips on how to style curly hair. What’s your curly hair routine like?
