Kat Von D Tattoo Liner VS. Stila Stay All Day Liquid Eye Liner
I’m not saying that I’ve mastered the act of applying eyeliner but I’m definitely getting better and better at it. How do these famous liners compare to each other? I’ll tell you!
I got both of these liners in Sephora’s Favorites Draw the Line Kit. In there were the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in ‘Trooper’ (black) and the Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner in ‘Dark Brown’ (both sample sizes). Since one’s black and the other’s brown, I won’t take the colors into consideration in this battle.
When it comes to applying the liners, Stila is better in my opinion. Stila has a proper ‘felt tip’ whereas the Kat von D liner’s actually a brush. It’s very difficult to photograph the hairs so you just have to believe me. Both are amazing at creating very precise lines; I don’t have much eyelid space to work with so I want to be able to create thin lines and a perfectly defined winged liner.
As far as durability goes, Stila’s my winner once again. My winged liner survived a tough workout in the gym. The Kat von D always smudges a bit on my eyelid throughout the day. I have to say that I have very oily eyelids so it’s not entirely Kat’s fault.
Stila has a much broader color range than the Kat von D liner which only comes in ‘Trooper’ (black). I would never wear blue/bright pink eyeliner anyway so it’s not a big deal to us girls who like to play it safe. I do really like Stila’s ‘Dark Brown’ though, especially in combination with bronzy eyeshadows (more on that tomorrow ;)).
The liners aren’t that expensive, considering they’re both really good. The Stila liner costs 2$ more than the Kat von D which is priced at 18$. It’s even cheaper if you convert it into Euros. Quite reasonable prices if you ask me.
Stila’s definitely the winner of this battle. Stila’s not available in Holland so I’ll have to place an order at Sephora once I’ve used it up. How awful… Have you tried these?
